current work > mountains
Symbolizing the closeness to the gods, the juxtaposition of mountains on Korean pottery shares the same cultural foundation as the cloud-based work, but is presented within the perspective of traditional Korean landscape paintings from the Joseon Dynasty. The work is glazed to reference the mythical depictions of mountains rising out of hazy clouds. I perceive mountains as a symbol of expanded time due to their seemingly endless life-span, and in sharp contrast to the more ephemeral nature of clouds.
